All The Tools You Need To Build A Successful Online Business
All The Tools You Need To Build A Successful Online Business
Project Overview
This project is being completed by Sonia Lancaster as a research project for the Master of Applied Positive Psychology to explore the effects of a short, computerized mindfulness-based training on wellbeing.
Registrations will be open from the time you get this letter – 12th August 2022.
What does participating involve?
Once you have registered for the online mindfulness-based training, participation involves completing anonymous online survey at time 1 (T1). You will then either be randomly assigned to the following:
- Use a computerized application for the period of 10 days which involves participation in short mindfulness activities, or
- To a waitlist to use the training
At the conclusion of the study, all participants will complete another anonymous online survey at time 2 (T2). Participants who did not get access to the training initially will then receive access to the online training.
Completion of the survey will take around 15 minutes. Use of the online training will consist of short 8–10-minute daily activities that will be carried out over 10 business days. Your choice whether to participate in this research project or not, will not affect your employment.
What are the benefits and risks?
You may not benefit directly from participating in this project. However, it is expected that this project may benefit us in better understanding the effectiveness of positive psychology and wellbeing based online computerized applications in a corporate workplace.
We do not expect there to be any negative consequence associated with participating in this research, other than giving up your time to complete this survey and use of the computerized application. The questions in the survey should not cause you any discomfort greater than what you would normally experience in your day-to-day life. Some questions may ask you to consider your thoughts and recent experiences of stress. The computerized training will require you to reflect on your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. If you find anything in the survey upsetting and feel you need extra support, please consider accessing Lifeline or contacting your General Practitioner or accessing professional support through your employee assistance program.
Is my participation confidential?
The survey will not collect any identifying information; your responses will be anonymous. You will be asked to generate a unique code so that you survey data can be matched.
The data will be securely stored in accordance with CQUniversity policy. The data may also be shared with other researchers and used in future research projects.
How do I consent?
Your consent to participate in this project will be obtained through your agreement to the Electronic Consent below.
What if I decline or change my mind?
Your participation in this research is voluntary. You may withdraw at any time prior to completing the T1 or T2 survey simply by closing the survey window on your web browser; your survey responses will not be used. Because your responses to the survey are anonymous, they cannot be withdrawn after you have submitted the survey.
If you would like to withdraw once you have received access to the online training, shut the application down and cease participation.
Where will the research outcomes be reported or shared?
The results of this research will be incorporated into an assessable piece by the student in the form of a dissertation or report. Publication is not the primary intention of this research, but a journal article or conference paper may arise out of this work.
How can I find out about the results of this research?
A short summary of the project’s findings will be available in November 2022. To request a copy, please enter your email address at the end of the survey email. Please note, your survey will remain anonymous, and your email address will be collected separately.
